4. Morning Everywhere, Night Somewhere
Imagine If you are moving to the Moon and never returning to the earth; What would you miss the most?

Morning from Everywhere

On earth, everyone meets their own morning every day, everywhere.
We know these are the moment we will miss from the earth. So we made these precious moments of the morning through the set of devices that show these elements as a sequence interaction.

Interaction Sequence
We create a morning moment by setting various elements of the morning into a sequence interaction that follows one after another. The whole interaction starts with putting the head on a pillow. One interaction output becomes the input of the next interaction, and that output becomes the input of another interaction, creating a connected story.

input
output

First of all, if you put your head on the pillow(interface), that senses the pressure(input), the curtain opens up and the morning scenery outside the window is seen(output), and birdsong starts to sound(output). The shape and texture of the pillow itself become a signifier that makes you want to touch it with your head.

The sound of birdsong and the bright outside the window become the affordance, making the user take their heads off the pillows. When the pressure on the head is removed from the pillow, it becomes the input and the toast rises from the toaster as the output. The toast comes up randomly with burnt toast and unburnt toast.

The window that appears from behind the curtain is hinged and has an affordance of opening up. The window frame becomes the interface, and when the window is opened, the flexible sensor of the hinge recognizes the bending input, and the wind chimes vibrate as an output. also, the sound of birds and wind becomes louder, making the feeling of morning air blowing from outside the window stronger.

Morning from evrerywhere

On earth, everyone meets their own morning every day, everywhere.
Morning is for everyone, but it takes on a different appearance depending on the person or the environment. Using random coding, the morning scenery outside the window changes every time. You can feel the morning from everywhere, one day you will meet the morning of a field in midsummer, some of the city morning, and the other day of the sea.
Night from Somewhere

There are nights that can only be felt on Earth.
One special camping day, when night falls, the sky is full of stars, and while everyone is asleep and quiet, the rustling of wild animals is heard in the bush. Then we hold the flashlight and shine the light towards the sound source. Other bushes are shaken one after another by animals that run away in surprise by the sudden light, leaving us traces of themselves, such as feathers and fur, their food, and footprints. We can look at their traces and imagine that they were the cause of the sound. We made these special nights into a sequence interaction story using paper design language.

Interaction Sequence
The movement of the swaying bushes from one to the other and from one to another was used as an interaction sequence. Users experience a series of interactions and look forward to the next story.

# Scene1
The tent's zipper acts as a signifier that opens it up and pulls out the flashlight inside. When you take out the flashlight from the tent, the ultrasonic sensor, a hidden interface, detects distance as an input and one bush shakes as an output. Hinting the existence of living things in the bush.

# Scene2
The shaking and sound of the bushes in the dark attracts attention and becomes a signifier that induces you to shine the flashlight. If you illuminate a bush with a flashlight(input), the shaking of the bush that is illuminated stops(output) as if an animal in the bush is frightened,
and the next bush starts shaking(output).
and the next bush starts shaking(output).

# Scene3
The sequence of bushes is repeated several times, and when you reached the last bush. various animal symbols appear randomly.
The user sees this and knows what kind of animal was shaking the bushes.

Night from somewhere

At night somewhere, various creatures live. As it is a night that hides a lot of things, we symbolically expressed the existence of animals of various lives. And used random coding to meet the traces of different animals each time.
Working process

Step 1. Ideation
We select various elements that symbolize morning and night, and proceed with interaction ideation. It went through the process of selecting and developing the ones that express each in a fun and metaphorical way.

Step 2. Arduino experiments / prototyping
To put the ideas we imagined into reality, we used Arduino to configure inputs and outputs using multiple sensors and motors. We made a prototype so that users could feel the morning and night more effectively by covering the design element on the Arduino

Step 3. Design
After visualizing the idea, such as determining the color and shape, we made 3d model to prepared the actual mockup.

Step 4 . Final mock-up
Finally, we selected our design language as paper and proceeded with the final mockup. The morning was made in a size that a real person could put his head on, and a monitor was installed outside the window so that different landscapes could be appeared randomly. And at night, layers were made to effectively represent the various bushes and stars were used with perforated black paper. Expressed this glowing background.
